What is GPS Tracking?A GPS Tracking system is part up of three main parts.1. The GPS Tracking Device. The (usually) small device can either be carried by person or fitted to a moving asset. This small device captures the GPS location and sends the information back to a central location at regular intervals. 2. GPS tracking Server. The purpose of the Tracking Server is two fold. Firstly it has the job of receiving information from the GPS Tracking Device units that are out in the field. The second job is to securely store and present this to a user, on demand, which will then allow the user to overlay the GPS positions in the database onto a map. 3. User interface. The user interface is presented via software. The software talks to the GPS Tracking server and retreives the information as queried by the user. Through the software the user can visually see where the person or asset is currently located. |
